Rare books on gastronomy

I stopped in at an amazing bookstore in the Barlow in Sebastopol that sells rare books on the topic of gastronomy. I have found several recipes for the sort of wine aperitif that I make in scanned antique books on Google Books  and I wanted to see and maybe buy the real thing. The sign on the door reads "Open by chance and by appointment."  It is a gorgeous place and the owner, Ben Kinmont, was very helpful. Alas, he had no books today on ratafia – though he has had some in the past. This is probably just as well because most of the books he sells range from the mid-hundreds to the multi-thousands of dollars. I'll have to sell a lot of aperitif to be able to buy those cookbooks.
